I absolutely loved Blaze of Glory (Random House $27.95, 9781741661880). The first volume of Michael Pryor's new trilogy - The Laws of Magic. Despite having read very little young adult fantasy fiction recently, except for Bill Pullman's trilogy I found Blaze of Glory instantly engaging, quirky and I didn't put it down till I finished it.
The opening detailing Aubrey's death are amongst the best opening chapters I have read in a long time. I highly recommend this novel to all young and older adults - even those who think they don't like fantasy. This, in my opinion, is the book to convert such readers.
