Richard Harland has secured a US deal for his steampunk/Victoriana novel Worldshaker. As well, Richard's short story A Guided Tour in the Kingdom of the Dead has been selected for Tor's Year's Best Fantasy 2009 anthology, along with Kim Wilkins' The Forest.

The shortlist for the CBCA Book of the Year Awards has been released. Lots of SF authors on the list including Melina Marchetta, Shaun Tan, Emily Rodda, and D.M. Cornish. The winners will be announced on Friday, 21 August 2009.
